Open Calls guide

How AI phone calls work

Open Calls lets you delegate a phone conversation to AI. Choose a person or business, explain what you need to find out and approve the maximum charge. Open Calls makes the call and returns confirmed answers with supporting quotes and anything left unanswered. You can start on this website or use a connected assistant such as ChatGPT.

When a phone call helps

Use a call when the answer needs a conversation: a shop's website may list an item without confirming today's stock, or an office may need to explain its process. Open Calls can also call someone you name to ask a routine question or share the information you approve.

  • Ask a shop whether the exact model and colour are in stock and what the total price is.
  • Ask a hotel or office about opening hours, access or the documents you need to bring.
  • Check in with someone you know and bring back their answer to your question.
  • Ask several shops the same question and compare the confirmed answers from each call.

For example: “Call the shop I name. Ask whether the blue model is available for pickup today and confirm the price including tax. Don't buy or reserve anything.” This is an example task, not a real call or a promise that the recipient will answer.

What you approve before the call

  1. Choose the recipient and phone number, the question and the context you want to share.
  2. Set boundaries, including what the assistant may say and what it must leave for you.
  3. Review the quoted maximum charge and call limits before starting.
  4. Approve the call. Connecting an assistant or reading a quote does not place a call.

Your account and prepaid balance apply whether you start here or through an assistant. See pricing and destination rates. Check your account for current destination, language and call-mode availability. A quoted maximum is a spending limit; it does not guarantee the question will be answered.

Phone menus and follow-up questions stay within the approved task. A recipient's suggestion does not grant permission to buy something, make a reservation or change your instructions. If you want to be brought into a supported call, use a verified callback number and accept the private invitation. Joining and live translation have their own availability and approval requirements.

Read what was confirmed and what remains open

A connected call is not the same as a completed task. Read the confirmed answers, their supporting quotes and the unresolved questions together. If the shop confirmed the base price but never answered about tax, the result should leave the final total unresolved. A fictional demonstration is labelled as an example.

Check the final call receipt for the actual charge. A missed answer, a browser timeout or a disconnected assistant is not permission to place another call automatically. Review the existing call's status before deciding what to do next.

Your account controls access to your call history. Read the Privacy Notice for how call content, account recordings and private debugging recordings are handled. For a problem with a result, use Report an issue on the call or contact support.

Choose your connection

You can create an account and make calls on this website. An assistant connection is optional. Each integration has its own setup and verification status; a setup guide alone does not mean a hosted connector is accepted.

For agents and developers

Open Calls exposes the same account and calling capability through MCP and a REST API. Start with the developer guide and OpenAPI reference for the request and result contract. Keep account credentials in your client's secure store. Never ask someone to paste a key into a conversation or put a key in a URL.

Read the balance, quote the intended call and obtain the person's approval for its recipient, objective and maximum charge. Persist one request key for that approved call, save its call ID and follow it through settlement. Report confirmed evidence and unresolved questions separately. Connecting an account grants access; it does not authorize calls, purchases or changes to spending limits.

Privacy choices

Diagnostics run by default to help us improve Open Calls. They include page views, IP addresses and approximate location, browser errors, masked interface replay and pseudonymous activity summaries for learning. Sensitive information and call audio are excluded. Privacy choices, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable optional diagnostics and campaign attribution.

Google Analytics is off until you enable it here. It measures visits and connection clicks on public pages using cookies. Google receives your IP address and browser information; account pages, call content, query strings and full referring addresses are excluded. Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control and turning off diagnostics also disable it. A saved diagnostics decline keeps it off until you change your diagnostics choice.
