Know what a little
help costs.
Menus count as connected time. When the line puts your AI on hold, the model pauses and the wait is billed at the lower waiting rate of $0.06/min. Ringing before the call connects does not count. Each call has a maximum you approve first.
When you join, the rate follows what is actually happening: $0.30/min while AI and the extra phone leg overlap, $0.05/min after AI leaves the human conversation, or $0.45/min for two-way interpreting. These are total rates, including phone legs. Each phase is measured separately; charges are calculated by the second.

Phone legs are included in each rate. We do not stack the rows. Menus count at the AI rate; announced hold time pauses the AI and bills at the waiting rate. Two-way interpreting runs only while both interpreters are ready.
Personal accounts start with a $100 monthly usage limit; shared accounts start at $500. Owners can lower or raise their limit up to $1,000. Teammates start at $20. A spending limit never authorizes a card charge.

What if nobody answers?
If there is no connected time, there is no usage charge. A call answered by a menu or voicemail is connected, so that time counts. Unused reserved credit returns to your available balance.
What if my question isn’t answered?
You pay for connected time, including waiting on hold, even if the task remains unresolved. The result shows what was confirmed, the supporting quotes, and what still needs an answer.
Does retrying cost extra?
There is no retry fee. Connected time is added across the attempts you allow. Your maximum reservation covers every permitted attempt, so a retry cannot raise the limit you approved.
Will you charge me automatically?
Only when you choose a monthly subscription or explicitly enable automatic top-ups. A saved card alone does not authorize automatic top-ups. You set the top-up amount, low-balance threshold and monthly purchase limit, and can disable top-ups in Billing. Calls deduct credit; they do not create an extra card charge.
Can I get billing help or a refund?
A call that never connects is not charged, and only measured seconds are deducted from a held maximum. Unused paid credit is refunded on request to the original payment method; contact support@opencalls.dev from your account email. Welcome and test credit have no cash value. Your statutory rights still apply.
Does connecting ChatGPT cost more?
There is no separate Open Calls connection fee. Calls use the credit in your connected account. ChatGPT availability and any subscription you have with OpenAI are separate.
